Boron and nitrogen co-doped porous carbon derived from sodium alginate enhanced capacitive deionization

摘要: Capacitive deionization can alleviate water shortage and water environmental pollution, but performances are greatly determined by the electrochemical and desalination properties of its electrode materials. In this work, B and N co-doped porous carbon with micro-mesoporous structures is derived from sodium alginate by a carbonization, activation, and hydrothermal doping process, which exhibits large specific surface area (2587 m2·g‒1) and high specific capacitance (190.7 F·g‒1) for adsorption of salt ions and heavy metal ions. Furthermore, the materials provide a desalination capacity of 26.9 mg·g−1 at 1.2 V in 500 mg·L‒1 NaCl solution as well as a high removal capacity (239.6 mg·g‒1) and adsorption rate (7.99 mg·g‒1·min‒1) for Pb2+ with an excellent cycle stability. This work can pave the way to design low-cost porous carbon with high-performances for removal of salt ions and heavy metal ions.

Synthesis of boron modified CoMo/Al

摘要: Catalytic hydrodesulfurization (HDS) technique is widely used for clean gasoline production. However, traditional HDS catalyst (CoMo/ -Al O ) exhibits high hydrogenation performance of olefins (HYDO), resulting in the loss of gasoline octane number. To achieve high HDS/HYDO ratio, the key issue is to reduce the interaction between active metals and the support, therefore, in this research, the modified CoMo/ -Al O catalysts with various boron amounts were investigated under traditional or microwave heating. The effects of preparing methods as well as boron amounts on the active phase, acidic properties and HDS catalytic activities were examined. Results show that the modification, especially under microwave treatment, can significantly weaken the interaction between the active component and the support by enlarging the surface area and pore diameter, and reducing the acidity of the support. As a result, the stacking numbers of MoS slabs were obviously improved by the modification and microwave treatment, contributing to higher edge/rim ratio, and resulting in higher HDS performance and selectivity to olefin.

Recognition of diamond grains on surface of fine diamond grinding wheel

摘要: The accurate evaluation of grinding wheel surface topography, which is necessary for the investigation of the grinding principle, optimism, modeling, and simulation of a grinding process, significantly depends on the accurate recognition of abrasive grains from the measured wheel surface. A detailed analysis of the grain size distribution characteristics and grain profile wavelength of the fine diamond grinding wheel used for ultra-precision grinding is presented. The requirements of the spatial sampling interval and sampling area for instruments to measure the surface topography of a diamond grinding wheel are discussed. To recognize diamond grains, digital filtering is used to eliminate the high frequency disturbance from the measured 3D digital surface of the grinding wheel, the geometric features of diamond grains are then extracted from the filtered 3D digital surface, and a method based on the grain profile frequency characteristics, diamond grain curvature, and distance between two adjacent diamond grains is proposed. A 3D surface profiler based on scanning white light interferometry is used to measure the 3D surface topography of a #3000 mesh resin bonded diamond grinding wheel, and the diamond grains are then recognized from the 3D digital surface. The experimental result shows that the proposed method is reasonable and effective.

Improving hole transfer of boron nitride quantum dots modified PDI for efficient photodegradation

摘要: In recent years, organic photocatalyst under visible-light absorption has shown significant potential for solving environmental problems. However, it is still a great challenge for constructing a highly active organic photocatalyst due to the low separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers. Herein, an effective and robust photocatalyst perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic diamide/boron nitride quantum dots (PDI/BNQDs), consisting of self-assemble PDI with π–π stacking structure and BNQDs, has been constructed and researched under visible light irradiation. The PDI/BNQDs composite gradually increases organic pollutant photodegradation with the loading amount of BNQDs. With 10 mL of BNQDs solution added (PDI/BNQDs-10), the organic pollutant photodegradation performance reaches a maximum, about 6.16 times higher with methylene blue and 1.68 times higher with ciprofloxacin than that of pure PDI supramolecular. The enhancement is attributed to improved separation of photogenerated carriers from self-assembled PDI by BNQDs due to their preeminent ability to extract holes. This work is significant for the supplement of PDI supramolecular composite materials. We believe that this photocatalytic design is capable of expanding organic semiconductors’ potential for their applications in photocatalysis.

Mechanical responses of pristine and defective hexagonal boron-nitride nanosheets: A molecular dynamics

摘要: In this work we conducted classical molecular dynamics (MD) simulation to investigate the mechanical characteristics and failure mechanism of hexagonal boron-nitride (h-BN) nanosheets. Pristine and defective structure of h-BN nanosheets were considered under the uniaxial tensile loadings at various temperatures. The defective structure contains three types of the most common initial defects in engineering materials that are known as cracks, notches (with various length/size), and point vacancy defects (with a wide range of concentration). MD simulation results demonstrate a high load-bearing capacity of extremely defective (amorphized) h-BN nanosheets. Our results also reveal that the tensile strength decline by increasing the defect content and temperature as well. Our MD results provide a comprehensive and useful vision concerning the mechanical properties of h-BN nanosheets with/without defects, which is very critical for the designing of nanodevices exploiting the exceptional physics of h-BN.

Statistical analysis of recombination properties of the boron-oxygen defect in p-type Czochralski silicon

摘要: This paper presents the application of lifetime spectroscopy to the study of carrier-induced degradation ascribed to the boron-oxygen (BO) defect. Specifically, a large data set of p-type silicon samples is used to investigate two important aspects of carrier lifetime analysis: ① the methods used to extract the recombination lifetime associated with the defect and ② the underlying assumption that carrier injection does not affect lifetime components unrelated to the defect. The results demonstrate that the capture cross section ratio associated with the donor level of the BO defect ( ) vary widely depending on the specific method used to extract the defect-specific recombination lifetime. For the data set studied here, it was also found that illumination used to form the defect caused minor, but statistically significant changes in the surface passivation used. This violation of the fundamental assumption could be accounted for by applying appropriate curve fitting methods, resulting in an improved estimate of (11.90±0.45) for the fully formed BO defect when modeled using the donor level alone. Illumination also appeared to cause a minor, apparently injection-independent change in lifetime that could not be attributed to the donor level of the BO defect alone and is likely related to the acceptor level of the BO defect. While specific to the BO defect, this study has implications for the use of lifetime spectroscopy to study other carrier induced defects. Finally, we demonstrate the use of a unit-less regression goodness-of-fit metric for lifetime data that is easy to interpret and accounts for repeatability error.

Ultra-precision ductile grinding of BK7 using super abrasive diamond wheel

摘要: In this paper, a novel conditioning technique using copper bonded diamond grinding wheels of 91 yD grain size and electrolytic in-process dressing (ELID) is first developed to precisely and effectively condition a nickel-electroplated monolayer coarse-grained diamond grinding wheel of 151 μm grain size. Under optimised conditioning parameters, the super abrasive diamond wheel was well conditioned in terms of a minimized run-out error and flattened diamond grain surfaces of constant peripheral envelope. The conditioning force was monitored by a force transducer, while the modified wheel surface status was in-situ monitored by a coaxial optical distance measurement system. Finally, the grinding experiment on BK7 was conducted using the well-conditioned wheel with the corresponding surface morphology and subsurface damage measured by atomic force microscope (AFM) and scanning electric microscope (SEM), respectively. The experimental result shows that the newly developed conditioning technique is applicable and feasible to ductile grinding optical glass featuring nano scale surface roughness, indicating the potential of super abrasive diamond wheels in ductile machining brittle materials.

Water-soluble BODIPY and aza-BODIPY dyes: synthetic progress and applications

摘要: In recent years, boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY) and boron-azadipyrromethene (aza-BODIPY) dyes have attracted considerable multidisciplinary attention due to their diverse applications. By introducing various hydrophilic groups, such as quaternary ammonium, sulfonate or oligo-ethyleneglycol moieties into the BODIPY core, the solubilities of these dyes in aqueous solution can be greatly improved while maintaining their high fluorescence quantum yields. Accordingly, applying these fluorescent dyes in aqueous systems to areas such as chemosensors, biomacromolecule labeling, bio-imaging and photodynamic therapy has been achieved. In this article, the recent progress on the synthesis, optical properties and application of water-soluble BODIPY dyes and aza-BODIPY dyes is reviewed.

Electrocatalytic reduction of NO to NH in ionic liquids by P-doped TiO nanotubes

摘要: Designing advanced and cost-effective electrocatalytic system for nitric oxide (NO) reduction reaction (NORR) is vital for sustainable NH3 production and NO removal, yet it is a challenging task. Herein, it is shown that phosphorus (P)-doped titania (TiO2) nanotubes can be adopted as highly efficient catalyst for NORR. The catalyst demonstrates impressive performance in ionic liquid (IL)-based electrolyte with a remarkable high Faradaic efficiency of 89% and NH3 yield rate of 425 μg·h−1·mgcat.−1, being close to the best-reported results. Noteworthy, the obtained performance metrics are significantly larger than those for N2 reduction reaction. It also shows good durability with negligible activity decay even after 10 cycles. Theoretical simulations reveal that the introduction of P dopants tunes the electronic structure of Ti active sites, thereby enhancing the NO adsorption and facilitating the desorption of *NH3. Moreover, the utilization of IL further suppresses the competitive hydrogen evolution reaction. This study highlights the advantage of the catalyst−electrolyte engineering strategy for producing NH3 at a high efficiency and rate.

Cobalt nanoparticle decorated N-doped carbons derived from a cobalt covalent organic framework for oxygen

摘要: The low cost and highly efficient construction of electrocatalysts has attracted significant attention owing to the use of clean and sustainable energy technologies. In this work, cobalt nanoparticle decorated N-doped carbons (Co@NC) are synthesized by the pyrolysis of a cobalt covalent organic framework under an inert atmosphere. The Co@NC demonstrates improved electrocatalytic capabilities compared to N-doped carbon without the addition of Co nanoparticles, indicating the important role of cobalt. The well-dispersed active sites (Co-Nx) and the synergistic effect between the carbon matrix and Co nanoparticles greatly enhance the electrocatalytic activity for the oxygen reduction reaction. In addition, the Co content has a significant effect on the catalytic activity. The resulting Co@NC-0.86 exhibits a superb electrocatalytic activity for the oxygen reduction reaction in an alkaline electrolyte in terms of the onset potential (0.90 V), half-wave potential (0.80 V) and the limiting current density (4.84 mA·cm–2), and a high selectivity, as well as a strong methanol tolerance and superior durability, these results are comparable to those of the Pt/C catalyst. Furthermore, the superior bifunctional activity of Co@NC-0.86 was also confirmed in a home-built Zn-air battery, signifying the possibility for application in electrode materials and in current energy conversion and storage devices.

蛇绿岩型金刚石——探索深部碳循环的新窗口 Review

近些年来,在全球不同地区的一些蛇绿岩地幔橄榄岩和铬铁矿中发现了微粒金刚石和其他异常矿物,包括呈斯石英假象的柯石英、碳化硅、青松矿、自然元素矿物、金属合金以及一些壳源矿物(如锆石、石英、角闪石和金红石)。西藏罗布莎铬铁矿中的柯石英和蓝晶石呈针柱状集合体交生在一起,产在钛铁合金矿物的边部,这些柯石英集合体可能代表了更高压相的斯石英发生退变后形成的假象矿物。蓝晶石、柯石英、青松矿包裹体(一种立方晶系的氮化硼)以及TiO2 II(金红石的高压相矿物)等矿物的发现指示铬铁矿形成的温压条件可能达到10~15 GPa、约1300 ℃,深度达大于380 km 的地幔转换带(mantle transition zone,MTZ)深度。碳化硅、自然元素矿物以及金属合金矿物的产出指示了一个超还原的地质环境。与金伯利岩、变质岩和陨石中的金刚石相比,蛇绿岩中的金刚石具有较轻的碳同位素组成以及不同类型的矿物包裹体,指示其碳物质可能源于地表的有机碳,经历了俯冲板片在深部的再循环作用。金刚石在蛇绿岩地幔橄榄岩和铬铁矿中的普遍存在,表明大洋地幔可能是一个重要的碳储库。蛇绿岩型金刚石的发现证明了浅部碳可以俯冲至深部地幔。蛇绿岩型金刚石为研究地球的深部碳循环提供了新窗口。
